‘Midnight’, composed by Eunseog Lee, Whitelaw LXX, is the story of a girl who becomes embroiled in a world that is not her own.
Desperate to find a way out of the bizarre universe of characters from the musical festival she was attending before events began, she becomes caught up in their stories.
There are illicit love affairs, a scheming emperor and an overwhelming desire from all of them to escape the two dimensional, souless lives they live - unwittingly controlled by the actors who are playing them. A tense fight ensues as two men, the lowly court minstrel and the over-confident yet deceptively sensitive emperor, fight for Cora to be their true love who will allow them to cross the bridge out of the monotony of their world and into hers.
Superb acting and singing from Eunseog Lee, Georgia Collis, Jenny Higgins, Tom Ribaroff and Titus English with Connie Krarup performing the feisty and utterly lost Cora and great chorus work from Sarang Lee, Maddie Speed and Jinseog Lee

The Quartet for The End of Time was written when Oliver Messiaen - the
French composer and mystic - was interned in a German prisoner of war
camp during WW2. At this time, Messiaen really thought he was going to
be killed, and he turned for comfort to his deep Catholic faith, and in
particular to the Book of Revelation, Chapter 10. This passage describes
the descent of a great Angel, who announces, at the end of the world,
that there will be no more time. Messiaen explores this concept in
musical terms by combining complex atonal poly-rhythms with hauntingly
beautiful, transcendentally calm and ecstatic melodies. Written for the
musicians who were imprisoned with him, it was scored for violin, cello,
clarinet and piano. Our four performers are all members of the teaching
staff -Miss Brogaard, Mr Martin, Mrs Fletcher and Mr Colley.

The world is very sinful. God (Mr. John, who else?) decides to flood it out, and saves Noah, his sons, daughters in law, his nagging wife (after a fight) but not her drunken hen-pals. This musical version of a miracle play also involves 100 assorted animals played by local primary school pupils and a vast orchestra including whips, teacups and a wind machine. There's also some ballet. Audience participation (you have to sing three hymns) gives you the chance to be part of one of the 20th century's masterpieces of musical theatre.

This year's concert will be presented by the LXX Music Tech class and will include live performances on electric guitar, didgeridoo and electronic wind controller. There will also be a selection of the best multi-track and creative arrangements by the present XX and a screening of some of the wacky slideshows created by the F block Music Option. If you enjoy music created wholly or partly using music technology, then this concert is for you.

It’s the biggest instrument in the school and surrounding area, it cost £700,000 to build and the console looks as complicated as the flight deck of a 747! No fear however for our intrepid young organists who will entertain you on our cathedral-size chapel organ in music from across the ages.

All are welcome to come and relax to the gentle jazz sounds of Mr Eno, Mr Colley and guests. Loose yourself in the gentle melodies and driving rhythms of the music and let it transport you out of Rugby. The concert will feature jazz interpretations of Mr Colley’s latest album, ‘Bluebell Bells’, with a front line of Saxophone(s), flugal horn and trombone accompanied by piano, guitar, bass and drums. This will be a world premiere and should not be missed.

Brandish your boas and buckle your shoes! It's the grand finale of this year's Arts Festival - Strictly Come Dancing! Five lucky couples have reached the final of the competition and will dance for first place, with live music provided by our very own Festival Big Band. Celebrity judges, musical entertainment and a host of guest appearances will complete this very special evening - the only place to say farewell to the Arts Festival 2009.
